MathaMentor is built by educational professionals, students, governors and teachers who combined their expertise and experience to help schools and students attain higher math GCSE grades.

Our Origins

Where it all started

Built by Real Life Education Experts

MathaMentor was created by a passionate team of students, teachers, tutors, school governors, mathematicians, and specialist educators who all share one common goal: making maths clearer, more engaging, and more accessible for every student. By combining real classroom experience, academic expertise, and an understanding of the challenges students face today, we have built a platform designed to support learners of all abilities. Our content and learning approach are carefully structured to align with all major GCSE exam boards, helping students build confidence, strengthen understanding, and achieve their full potential in maths.

Tyler Welby Founder & CEO MathaMentor YHoungest School governor in the UK

Tyler Welby

I am the founder and CEO of AmplifiED Learning, and the creator of MathaMentor.

My work in education began early when I became a governor at an independent school at 19. As a member of both the Education & Pastoral and Strategic Communications Committees, I developed a strong understanding of how schools operate and where students can be underserved. In particular, I observed a consistent gap in how effectively GCSE Maths is supported, with many capable students underperforming despite clear potential.

Alongside my governance work, I run a tutoring business, working directly with students and gaining practical insight into the challenges they face in GCSE Maths. This combination of strategic and hands-on experience, together with my studies in History and International Relations at King’s College London, has shaped my approach to education as both a system and an individual experience.

My work focuses on improving GCSE Maths outcomes through more personalised support, clearer feedback, and tools that adapt to how each student learns.

Meet Mathew – Our MathaMentor Ambassador

Mathew is a raven with a secret superpower: he’s obsessed with maths. Ravens are famously one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet, able to solve complex problems, plan ahead, and think in creative ways, and Mathew is no exception. Born high in the mountains, Mathew spent his early years studying the geometry of his own feathers, the angles of his flight, and the perfect parabolas he traced across the sky. He soon realised that maths wasn’t just in textbooks — it was everywhere — and he made it his mission to help every student see the world the way he does. Now MathaMentor’s official ambassador, Mathew is the friendly face who greets students at the start of every session, cheering them on through tricky equations and celebrating every breakthrough, no matter how small. Just as Ravens are known to never give up on a problem, Mathew brings that same relentless, patient energy to every student’s GCSE journey. Mathew is living proof that with the right guide by your side, even the hardest problems are easily solved.
